Bed-Wetting

  • What is Bed-Wetting?

Bed-wetting is stressful for everyone involved. Lack of bladder control can cause embarrassment, shame, and interfere with normal social development.

  • What Causes Bed-Wetting?

All of the causes of bed-wetting are not fully understood, but a few examples include underdeveloped bladders (typically under age four) physical or sexual abuse or stress. If your child wets the bed after having been dry at night in the past, it is important that they are seen by a doctor.

  • How Can We Help?

The central nervous system may be irritated, which our team will be able to address the nerves specifically that control bladder function. The sacrum, a fused bone in adults, is actually separated into five bones in childhood that could become misaligned due to a trauma. If the bones become misaligned, they can compromise the nerves responsible for bladder function.

  • Tips for Bed-Wetting Management

Be careful to notice wetting patterns as well as changes in life stressors. Looking to manage components contributing to bed-wetting can be important for management. Helping understand the child more and why they are suffering from bed-wetting can help them avoid stressors and wetting.
