About Dr. Jake Parks

Jake is a graduate from the University of Iowa where he earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Following graduation, he worked in the medical device industry providing medical instrumentation for hospitals throughout Iowa.  His experience in this role is what reignited his passion for serving others, ultimately leading him to Palmer College of Chiropractic.

While earning his Doctorate, Jake began taking courses in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) and completed all four parts of this course work.  He served as an MDT club representative at Palmer where he taught MDT introductory principles to his fellow classmates. MDT is a method of assessment that utilizes spine and joint movement to further understand and subsequently treat muscle or joint problems. The assessment allows Jake to make accurate clinical diagnoses ensuring the care you are receiving is fit for the condition your experiencing.

During the clinical portion of the doctoral curriculum, Jake served our nation’s veterans at the VA of Central Iowa located in Des Moines.  At the VA, Jake worked with the pain management and rehabilitation department to provide veterans with patient-centered care that focused on their specific needs and goals. Following his time at the VA, Jake spent his last clinical rotation at Coushatta Family Medical Center in Kinder, Louisiana with the organization Integrated Musculoskeletal Care (IMC). There, Jake worked within a multi-disciplinary setting that catered to members of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana as well as the employees of the Coushatta Casino Resort. The experiences within both clinical settings sharpened Jake’s assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills.

In his free time, Jake enjoys spending time with his wife, Camrynn, and their two dogs, Luna and Ruthie. Jake is an avid weight-lifter and loves pushing himself inside the gym with a focus on foundational movements. Outside of family time and the gym, Jake loves to spend the day on the golf course and is currently on a mission to shoot below an 84.  He also enjoys reading books about science-fiction and philosophy.
